To contribute to the dissemination and development of innovation, Isdefe has just published a report focused on the role of innovation in the service of our country’s energy transition, which includes the transfer of knowledge arising from the 2nd Innovation Week held in June 2023, and which is intended to be the precursor to this 3rd Innovation Week focused on logistics, which begins on 11 June 2024.
The report addresses the energy transformation of the General State Administration (AGE), which is on its way to becoming a more sustainable model to achieve climate neutrality in the European Union (EU) by 2050. To this end, it looks at various initiatives, such as the energy communities of IDAE, AENA and its ‘Climate Action Plan’ and the port of Barcelona together with its ‘Horizon 2030’.
It also analyses the importance of energy in the Ministry of Defence. In this regard, it reviews how it is applied in various initiatives (Programa Coincidente, BLET, BACSI and Juan Sebastián Elcano, the Spanish Navy’s floating embassy).
It also includes other topics that were also discussed at the 2nd Innovation Week, a meeting that brought together experts from some key sectors for the AGE, such as the Energy Captech of the European Defence Agency (EDA) with its Energy and Environmental Capabilities Technology Group and the Consultation Forum on Energy in Defence and the Canary Islands Technological Institute (ITC).
In short, the report concludes by identifying the two major challenges facing Spain: on the one hand, the operational challenge of mobilize the necessary resources together with the implementation of the strategies developed; on the other hand, facing the country’s technological and social challenges from the perspective of innovation.
Innovation is part of Isdefe‘s DNA, and since its founding in 1985, it has made it a key pillar of its activity. Thanks to it, Isdefe is able to anticipate the needs of the General State Administration and improve the quality of the consulting and engineering services it provides.
