The objective of the IMHOTEP R&amp;D project is based on the fact that predictive models and decision support tools enable information sharing, common situational awareness and real-time collaborative decision making between airports and ground transportation stakeholders. To support this overall objective, the project is developing a set of predictive models capable of anticipating the evolution of an airport&#8217;s passenger flows during the operating day and assessing the operational impact of different management measures on both airport processes and the ground transportation system. The IMHOTEP project has developed two main predictive models, which have been integrated to provide a holistic view of the gate-to-gate and gate-to-gate passenger journey; these are a model of passenger flows within the terminal, and a model of passenger flows into and out of airport facilities. The project has also developed the application of IMHOTEP at two case study airports, Palma de Mallorca (PMI) and London City (LCY) at the PoC (Proof of Concept) level, including a summary of the simulation of passenger flow within the passenger terminal and travel to and from the airport. The application of this specific data generation and processing methodology within two airport environments aims to assess the impact of the new concept on service improvement for passengers, airport operators and other key stakeholders. Until now, passenger terminal and airport access\/egress flows have been analyzed separately based on different and incompatible models. IMHOTEP for the first time brings both models together in a measurable process to open opportunities for better communication among all associated stakeholders. Other benefits of coordinated airport access and operation strategies include reducing the carbon footprint of passenger travel through better use of existing facilities and surface transportation services, and the delay or omission of additional terminal or other airport facility capacities.
