Winner of the 2018 Isdefe’s IDEAS challenge (4th edition)<\/em><\/p>\n\n

Internal R&D project<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

The Aviation Real-time Emissions Token Accreditation<\/em><\/strong> (ARETA) project has been developed as an internal R&D project, having won the 4th Call for the R&D+i Idea Capture and Management Program of Isdefe.<\/p>\n\n

It was developed between October 2019 and June 2020 by Pedro Garc\u00eda Fern\u00e1ndez and Alberto Uceda Aguilar, who were then part of the Management of Interoperability, Testing, and Transportation Operations of the Transportation and ICT Directorate of Isdefe.<\/p>\n\n

The project was presented at the Big Things Conference de 2020<\/a>,<\/em> one of the most important events in Europe on data analytics, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and cloud, organized by the Spanish company Paradigma.<\/p>\n\n

The aimof the ARETA R&D project was to develop an architecture and technological solution that would enable the exchange of rights and certification of emissions, through the real-time capture of relevant information about emissions from air routes, using Big Data techniques, for subsequent tokenization via Blockchain infrastructure, and to apply appropriate data analytics to all captured and processed information. The solution had a transversal component of Data Governance. <\/p>\n\n

The capture of flight data in real-time occurred just after the onset of COVID-19, in March 2020, so the project, in addition to its original purpose, allowed us to analyze other use cases, such as flights with medical supplies.<\/p>\n\n
