The day began with a welcome from Beatriz González, a member of César’s educational team, who introduced the new project coordinator, Marina Rodríguez Varas.

During the session, Marina explained in detail the objectives and operation of the project, highlighting the collaboration between the European Space Agency (ESA), INTA and ISDEFE.

The main purpose of the project is to bring research in astrophysics and space sciences to the classroom, promoting interest in science and equal opportunities.

  • Explanation of the educational activities: The “Scientific-Space Experiences” carried out at ESAC were detailed, where students from different levels participate in practical workshops with real ESA data, visit the facilities and learn about the different professional profiles in the sector.
  • New this year: The new educational room at ESAC was presented, an innovative and luminous space that allows diversifying activities and adapting them to different interests and ages. The renovation of the activities and the flexibility to customize them according to the needs of the educational centers were highlighted.

  • Participants’ evaluations: Opinions were shared from the students, who highlighted how fun and interesting the experience was, as well as the practical and motivating learning.
  • Inclusion and accessibility: The collaborations with organizations to bring science closer to different groups, such as the elderly, hospitalized children, people with disabilities and rural areas, were highlighted.
  • Observatories and resources: Recent images of the Sun taken with the project’s telescopes were shown and it was explained how these resources are available to the educational community.
  • Preparations for solar eclipses: The educational campaign for the upcoming solar eclipses visible in Spain was announced, with the preparation of kits and educational materials for schools.
