Internal R&D project
Isdefe’s internal R&D project GIS National Energy Efficiency Tool for Defining Strategies in a Just Transition (SIGEEN), developed between 2021 and 2023, has developed a Geographic Information System (GIS) capable of representing the current state of energy efficiency of certified buildings or their estimated efficiency based on their characteristics and energy consumption, also disaggregating their partial and global indicators of consumption and emissions (heating, domestic hot water, lighting and cooling) and including economic, social and thematic variables.
All this will make it possible to define strategies to improve national energy efficiency, favor the areas most in need (greater energy poverty, depopulation, industrial reconversion, etc.), promote self-consumption, identify those actions in which the greatest efficiency can be achieved with the least investment and reflect the different actions carried out to analyze their impact.
The project was developed by a team coordinated by Javier Cordobés Muñoz and Carlos Rodríguez Alcalá of Isdefe’s Transport, Energy and ICT Department.
